Who is Anders?

I have been interested in the marine animals and plant life for as long as I can remember. My first aquarium I got at the age of six was the first of many that I have had over the years. At the age of 12 I joined Skövde's Sport diver club and my interest for diving and life under the waters surface got stronger and stronger. A career as a marine biologist was pretty obvious, even as a young teenager..

During my biology studies at Gothenburg University, I would take pauses to focus on my diving and worked as an instructor both the Sweden and in tropical waters. After my studies were finished, I taught courses about Sweden's marine fauna at Tjärnös marine biology labratory. After several years of working with different labratories, I finally found my dream job in Lysekil on Sweden's west coast - a full time job teaching marine biology and diving at Gullmarsgymnasiet (high school). In addition to my job at Gullmarsgymnasiet I am often hired to do presentations, lead courses, arrange dive trips and write articles.

My curiosity about our marine life has led me into photography as a way of spreading knowledge about this fantastic environment that we have. In my opinion, this is the best way to keep it safe. Through the years I have won both the Swedish and Nordic underwater photo championships, and have represented Sweden at the world championships..

Since 2006 I am an elected member of the association Naturfotograferna. I am probably mostly known for my pictures of animals in Nordic waters. My many years as an active photographer has resulted in having accumulated the largest photo archive of nordic marine animals in Sweden. Having travelled extensively as well as worked abroad, I also have a large photo archive of water living organisms from other parts of the world as well. If you would like to see some examples of my photos or find out more about my work, please visit my webpage undervattensbilder.se.
