Sanur is located in the southeast of Bali and is a popular destination in Indonesia. Tourists from many countries but also domestic travelers go here to relax and experience the Balinese tranquility. Sanur is known for its fine beach but also an excellent starting point for shopping and experiences or as the start or end of a diving trip. There are lots of accommodation, restaurants and shops here. For those who don't like South Bali with Kuta's very intense street and night life but still like to have access to a bit of everything, Sanur is perfect. Tourism exists here but it is not bothersome and commerce is much quieter than in Kuta and other parts on the west side of the island, Sanur is only about 20-30 minutes drive from the airport and beautifully located by the beach.
Sanur used to be mostly a single street along the beach, but today it has grown and flows more or less together with both the island's capital, Denpasar, and with Kuta on the eastern side. But you still notice a big difference in traffic and commerce.

Sanur's nice beach and the significantly slower pace than places like Kuta, Legian, Seminyak and Canggu on the east side of the island have attracted many people here over the years. Sanur is ideal for your first stay to Bali and not wanting to be drowned in the rather wild nightlife of Kuta and Seminyak. If you are looking to enjoy restaurants and a bit of shopping without having hundreds of stressed taxi and motorcycle drivers around you, salesmen every square meter, Sanur is perfect. Here there is room to take everything at your own pace, but there are still plenty of shops, shopping and time for relaxation. Here in Sanur there are also Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian consulates in Bali.
Sanur is a very good addition to your vacation and diving trip. Some of our liveaboards to Komodo even depart from here at Benoa Harbour. It is also easy to get on from Sanur across the island for day trips as the worst car traffic is on the other side of the island. Take the opportunity to relax for a few days and experience the stillness that still exists here. Here in Sanur in Bali there are wonderful resorts and accommodations and many of the resorts are located along the beach. But there are good places on the other side of the street as well and with only one or two minutes walk to the beach.
