Truk Lagoon or Chuuk, as the islands are now called, is a small island in Pacific and Micronesia. A liveaboard in Truk Lagoon is a fantastic adventure for those who love to dive on wrecks. Although most of the wrecks that can be dived here also when you live ashore, a liveaboard gives more diving. The wrecks are not so spread out so it is an advantage to live on one live board. Then you can dive almost at any time. Sometimes you might be all alone on these historic World War II wrecks.
In addition to all the historic wrecks with both ships and airplanes, there are also good chances of seeing large fish and various species of shark. Sharks especially patrol out on the reefs but sometimes also around the wrecks which also attract a lot of fish. For those who love wreck diving, this is one of the world's best dive sites. Perhaps the best wreck diving in the world for regular divers. For those who like to dive, technical diving is also good here. The range is all the greater with the opportunity to experience more wrecks and get deeper.
Operation Hailstone - the airstrike on Truk Island
Operation Hailstone from February 1944 has given many divers over the years fantastic experiences. Many people go here and dive again and again. The wrecks are not only exciting to dive on, they are also memorial sites and graves, so a diving trip here should be taken with all respect. Many go here on diving trips to remember relatives and honor those who died during the Second World War. There is also a lot of war history to see on land.
If you want to combine and have a few nice days on land in connection with your diving trip and liveaboard, it is fine to combine. You can stay in Truk or or build on your program to travel further. Guam, Yap, Palau, Marshall Islands or Filippi Erna are some examples. Contact us for your wishes, we will make a proposal for that as well.
