Seychelles in the Indian Ocean is located northeast of Madagascar and east of Kenya. It is the smallest country in Africa and has the smallest population of just over 100,000 inhabitants. The islands are divided into groups. There are 42 granite islands called Granitic Seychelles and are the most famous and visited. Other of the more famous are the Amirantes group, Desroches, Farquhar group and the large and remote Aldabra group.

When is the best time to go to Seychelles?

April to May and October to November are considered the best months for diving in the Seychelles. Visibility is generally good and the sea temperature is ideal for experiencing marine life.
For those who focus more on sizeandaOtherwise, November to March is good for activities and generally good weather, while the dry season of May to September is best for activities like hiking and sailing. Expect more wind, rougher seas and colder, plankton-rich waters, which in themselves can attract whale sharks.

What can I see when diving in the Seychelles?

Turtles are common in the Seychelles and are often seen. Sea urchins and starfish are common on the flat sandy bottoms and reefs. Many other invertebrates such as octopuses and other mollusks, crustaceans and various species of corals and cnidarians.
Angelfish, butterflyfish and parrotfish add color and bring the reefs to life.

The waters of the Seychelles are home to pelagic species such as tuna, mackerel and barracuda, while larger species such as manta rays, whale sharks and dolphins also frequent the waters of this part of the Indian Ocean.

Animals and nature

The nature of the Seychelles is characterized by unique endemic animal species, including the giant Aldabra tortoise, the endemic Coco de Mer palm, and a large number of bird and marine species, all of which thrive in the lush forests and pristine oceans.

Where is the best diving in Seychelles?

What is the “best” diving in the Seychelles is subjective, but generally speaking we would say the outer islands such as Alphonse, Astove, Desroches and Aldabra Atoll. These are more remote islands that require a bit more planning to reach. These are islands that offer pristine marine environments, dramatic wall dives and a high concentration of marine life. Sharks, turtles and pelagic fish are often seen here. Diving cruises to Aldabra Atoll are a unique experience and can only be arranged in groups with long notice.
More accessible diving is offered by the island of Mahé, while Praslin and La Digue have warm, shallow reefs that are perfect for beginners and courses.

Is there liveaboarding in Seychelles?

Explore and hike through beautiful natural landscapes and nature reserves full of life.
