Cayman Islands

In the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, south of Cuba, west of Jamaica, northeast of Honduras and east of Mexico are the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Islands are an autonomous British overseas territory. The country consists of the three islands Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman,

The capital is George Town on the Grand Cayman, which is the most populous of the three islands. The islands are perhaps otherwise best known as a tax haven and there is plenty of jet set life and plenty of fantastic accommodation and boats. The two smaller islands are located a bit to the east and offer fantastic diving with good visibility and beautiful walls. You prefer to go here and dive if the weather allows.

Unfortunately, Cayman has never really made itself known as a diving destination outside the United States, but here there is actually incomparably good diving in some places. Sharks are seen regularly, the wall dives are dramatic and with exciting formations, swimthroughs and caves and which plunge into the depths.

Single wrecks can be found here, of which Kittywake is perhaps the Caribbean's most famous and perhaps the most talked about of the world's dive sites, Stingray city can be found here in the Cayman Islands. A shallow bay where large numbers of southern stingrays gather here daily and show themselves to divers and one of the world's most talked about places for UV photography.

A week's liveaboard in the Cayman Islands is a wonderful adventure with varied and good Caribbean diving and why not combine with a few days ashore or an exciting combo with Mexico, the Dominican Republic or Cuba.
