  • Currency: US dollar. There is only one bank machine on the island, so be sure to have enough money for your entire stay. You can pay for all of your purchases and services with VISA, MasterCard or American Express at Manta Ray Bay Resort & Yap Divers.
  • Language: English
  • Water: Drinking water on Yap is clean and safe to drink. The water quality is tested regularily to guarantee safety. 
  • Visa: Not required for stays shorter than 30 days, but you must have a registered ESTA no later than 72 hours before departure, as Guam is classified as an American territory.  
  • Health: Contact your local vaccination clinic for advice. 
  • Recompression chamber: There is a chamber at the hospital. Treatment is expensive and we strongly recommend all divers have specific diving insurance.

  • Electricity: Standard 110 volt and US socket.
  • Weather: Located just 7 degrees north of the equator, the climate is tropical. The average air temperature is 28 degrees celcius and the average water temperature is 29 degrees celcius. Dry season is between December and April. Rainy season is between April and December.
  • Clothing recommendations: Casual clothing is acceptable on the boat and in the resort. Women should wear a skirt or longer shorts to cover the thighs when visiting the local villages.
