DIVING IN THE PHILIPPINES
The Republic of the Philippines is located in Southeast Asia.
Diving in the Philippines
The Republic of the Philippines is located in Southeast Asia. The country consists of roughly 7 islands, of which approximately 600 are inhabited. Most islands are forested volcanic islands. The climate is tropical, which means it is hot and humid. Diving in the Philippines is growing every year thanks to fantastic diving, the lovely climate and the opportunities for great vacations.
Seasons
The Philippines has three seasons which roughly look like this but it can vary. Different years can be slightly different and also different parts of the country:
- Summer, March – May.
- Rainy season, June – November
- Winter, December – February
The average annual temperature is around 26-30 degrees. The Philippines' "winter" can hardly be compared to our winter, which is much colder.
Best time to go
The Philippines has season all year round! It is generally considered that the best diving is usually from October to June. During the other summer months, it is normally the rainy season and it gets hot and humid. However, it depends on where in the Philippines you go. Dauin, for example, has a season and good diving all year round. Tubbataha reefs on the other hand are only accessible for a few months each year due to their exposed location out in the Sulu Sea.

Diving
The Philippines is considered one of the world's best diving destinations and offers some of the best diving in the world. The variety is huge and there are all types of diving here. You can dive along walls that plunge straight into the depths, you can do wreck diving on wrecks from the Second World War. You can do stream diving, or why not a macro dive where you take pictures and look at frogfish or colorful nudibranchs.
Great species richness
The area offers a lot to choose from. You often see different species of shark and rays. Turtles and large shoals of fish are also common. The corals are numerous and magnificent due to the nutrient-rich water. You will easily be a little spoiled with the diving here - For those who like macro diving and photography, you have a real paradise in the Philippines.
You who don't dive
As you have already understood, there is a lot to do here besides diving. The Philippines has everything you could wish for, whether you dive or not. Here you will find everything from fantastic nature with spectacular geological formations in the form of caves and waterfalls, to a rich local cultural life and exciting shopping.
Diving in warm water
The temperature in the water is 24-30 degrees and therefore no more than a thin wetsuit is needed. Even if it feels comfortable in the water, we recommend that you wear a suit, because it can easily get cold if you do more than one dive per day. Another reason to have a suit is to protect you from the sun and any drifting particles from hydroids that may occur.
