About Galapagos

Galapagos - this mythical and distant place consists of 19 islands and a dozen smaller islands and volcanic formations - in total it forms a land mass of approximately 8000 square kilometres spread over more than 50,000 square kilometres of sea space. Galapagos is located almost 1000 km west of Ecuador's coast and, because of its remote location, Galapagos was completely isolated from the outside world for several thousand years.

It was in 1835 when Charles Darwin on the ship HMS Beagle encountered the islands the world open their eyes to the richest and most advanced ecosystems on our planet. It was Darwin's observations on Galapagos, described in his book "About the Origin of Species", which came to overthrow and change human view of creation and human descent.

Today these active, volcanic islands are home to a unique flora and fauna not found anywhere else in the world, known as endemic species. The islands are part of Ecuador's national park system and are classified as a world heritage site. And luckily for us divers, the rich and unique life on land is matched under the oceans surface.

Travel Plan day by day

Saturday October 17
We recommend that you arrive to Quito in Ecuador at the latest on this date and spend two nights in a hotel in Quito. This allows for extra time should your baggage, or yourself, not arrive on the planned arrival day. We can help you to book the extra hotel nights, just let us know.

Sunday October 18
Free day in Quito on your own.

Monday October 19
Check out from the hotel in Quito, go to Quito Airport for departure to San Cristobal, Galapagos. At San Cristobal airport you will be picked up by staff of the Galapagos Master and transferred to the boat, followed by an introduction of how everything works on board. The boat will then head to Isla Lobos, a site famous for its sea lions, where you will do a check-dive. You will also have the chance to witness marine iguanas and sea turtles.

Tuesday October 20
In the morning you will do 2 dives at Punta Carrion and Baltra North East, followed by an afternoon land tour of North Seymour Island, before cruising north during the evening.

Wednesday October 21-23
During these days you will be diving on and around the northernmost islands, Wolf and Darwin Island. This is world class diving!

Saturday October 24
The boat will head to the island Isabela where you will dive around Punta Vicente Roca.

Sunday October 25
During the morning you will dive at Cousin Rock, followed by an afternoon dive at Los Gemelos and a visit to Darwin Station in Puerto Ayora.

Monday October 26
A morning visit to the Interpretation Centre on San Cristóbal Island followed by check-out and payment of your equipment rental, bar tab, merchandise from the ships souvenir shop, etc. This is also the time to give a gratuity tip to the staff if you wish. Transfer to your flight back to the mainland to Quito, Ecuador (unless you have extended your stay in the Galapagos). We recommend a night in Quito, Ecuador after the liveaboard stay, should there be any unforeseen delays with the boat.

Tuesday October 27
Leave Quito and fly back to Scandinavia (unless you have chosen to extend your trip with a few days in Ecuador/Peru etc).

Wednesday October 28
You should be back home again with with memories for life, as well as with memory cards full of fantastic pictures from your trip.
