Mexiko, Sea of Cortez - where the dessert meets the sea

16 - 30 september 2022

Experience - Sea of Cortez, a unique inland sea that belongs to Mexico and is part of the Pacific Ocean. Here is a mix of marine life that few places in the world can offer. Everything from macro with nudibranchs, seahorses, strange blennies and jawfish and much more to big schools with jacks, barracudas and then the opportunity to see really big animals like dolphins, pilot whales, killer whales, sea lions, gray whales, hammerheads, different rays, manta and mobulas, whale sharks and much more. This liveaboard runs only a couple or three times a year so hurry to book before the seats run out.

With the journey - We have not yet decided who is going on the trip but it will be good.

Your accommodation - You start with two nights in Phoenix, USA to wait for luggage and make sure everything flows on before leaving for Mexico and off to the liveaboard. Quino el Guardian is often used as a research vessel but is really good as a base for diving. The boat is relatively basic and there are cabins with four beds in each room, bunk beds. On board are toilets and showers that are used in common (two for the girls and two for the boys) Full board included on board and also beer and wine.

Our ambassador ..... - Since we haven't decided yet who is going on this fantastic tour, more info will come later. Then we will also update the PDF where you will find more info about the trip.

About Mexiko

You first fly to the United States and Phoenix in Arizona. Here you will stay two nights in a hotel where you can spend a day completely according to your wishes. Pool and Jacuzzi are available at the hotel but perhaps the town attracts more.

After breakfast we return to the airport where there are buses to Mexico and Puerto Peñasco at the northern part of Sea Cortez where we board our boat. 12 nights liveaboard awaits later and that will take us all the way south to Cabo san Lucas. During the cruise, you will dive into many exciting places and hopefully experience all possible sizes of animals, from the tiniest nudibranchs to the giants of the seas, whale sharks and fin whales.
Baja California is a unique adventure and this cruise is only done a couple, three times a year ... it's a trip where there are no roads, a handful of people and just a temporary boat.

Enjoy 3 to 4 dives each day as we move from island to island. The legendary diver Jacques Cousteau once described the Cortez Sea as "the world's aquarium".
Dive on pristine walls and reefs that burst from marine life. The northern part is a macro photographer's dream, while the southern parts often offer very large animals and scuba diving on wrecks, Fan Ming and Salvaterra. If you want to go to one of the remote islands during the surface intervals, there is always a boat that will take you to the beach. There are also kayaks if you want to take a leisurely tour around the islands.

The Cortez Sea is still a secret oasis where the desert meets the sea. After the cruise, there is a late transfer to the airport and then on to home to Scandinavia or for those who choose to add a few days so the adventure continues.
