Truk Lagoon - a wreck lover's paradise!
November 6 - 19, 2022

Truk Lagoon is located in the middle of the Pacific and the mythical lagoon is a place that where 60 shipwrecks and 250 aircraft wrecks rest as a remnant of the Second World War. Truk is at the top of the wreck lovers list, so join this adventure in November 2019 with Micke Wolhardt, our highly esteemed wreck expert and triple Truk traveler.

Why so much wreckage? - During World War II, Truk was used as a hiding place for the Japanese Empire's fleet. In 1944, the Americans flew over Truk and bombed the fleet. Because of this, today more than 60 shipwrecks and 250 aircraft wrecks are at the bottom of the sea and many of these wrecks are fully dive. The warm water, the corals and the booming marine life mean that divers return to Truk year after year.

Learn more about wreck diving and technical diving - Our ambassador Micke Wolhardt will give lectures during the journey on wreck diving and equipment configuration, read more in PDF below.

Your Accommodation - The Blue Lagoon resort offers stunning views of the world-famous lagoon and is ideally suited for diving. It blends well into the island's tropical atmosphere and you can enjoy the view of the lagoon from the rooms' balconies. By a short walk you reach the white sandy beach for a refreshing swim in the clear water.

Our Ambassador Micke Wolhardt - Participating in this unbeatable adventure is our Ambassador Micke Wolhardt. Micke is the founder of SwedTech Diving and an extremely experienced instructor in technical diving who is passionate about wreck diving.

The story behind Truk Lagoon

Diving in Truk Lagoon is an adventure that you will not soon forget. On an area of about 200 square kilometers lies a huge amount of wrecks from the Second World War. The wreck is buzzing with marine life, including over 300 different soft and hard coral species. 1971 put Jacques-Yves Cousteau Truk on the map. After his return, the pictures were published all over the world and since then divers have visited Truk to experience these treasures themselves. More than 40 of Truk's wrecks are available for diving today. It is everything from shallow-water vessels to wrecks located at greater depths and attracts it and other tech divers.

Itinerary

Sunday 6 November
We leave Scandinavia and fly to Manila in the Philippines.

You arrive in Manila and have a first night in a hotel. Since the airline tickets are separate on the Scandinavian - Manila and Manilla - Chuuk flights, we want to make sure that any flight delays make you miss the transfer.

Tuesday 8 November
We leave Manilla and fly towards Chuuk, through Guam. Upon arrival in Chuuk, a shuttle is waiting to take you to the Blue Lagoon Resort, now you can start enjoying the surroundings.

Wednesday 9 November - Wednesday 16 November
Diving days! Two guided boat dives / day with full focus on wreck diving. Some of the evenings you will be able to listen to inspirational presentations by Michael Wolhardt.

Thursday 17 november
On the last day we do two early dives in order to have enough time between the last dive and the flight home.

Friday 18 November - Saturday 19 November
Time to check out from Blue Lagoon Resort and take a transfer back to the airport. Today we will fly back to Manilla, through Guam. You will most likely land in Manila the same day and here it will be 1 night in Manila (or an optional extension) before flying back home to Scandinavia.
