Freediving in Mauritius – This trip is for those of you who are curious about freediving and want to learn the basics to be able to make more fun, safer, longer or deeper freedives. After the course and practical exercises you will receive a beginner's certificate in freediving. Something to proudly show off and a memory that reminds you of your trip to the tropical beautiful island. Freediving in Mauritius is generally easy and a perfect place to start with freediving and snorkeling.
Your accommodation – La Mariposa Mauritius is a good mid-range hotel on the east coast of Mauritius just south of Flic en Flac. The hotel is wonderfully located in a fantastic setting directly on the beach. Here you have beautiful green garden environments and a lovely staff who will do everything to make you feel comfortable. The proximity to the sea and the beach and beautiful views of the sea make it easy to find relaxation and you will have a good stay here. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and even though the hotel is a few years old, the charm of being here and enjoying a tropical paradise is something for those of you looking for a nice relaxation and holiday together with learning to freedive.
Our ambassador Li Karlsén - Li is a world record holder in ice freediving, Swedish and Nordic champion, and former captain of the Swedish national freediving team. She is a trained trainer for freediving instructors and founder of both Freedive Nordic in Sweden and Seaweed Freediving Club in Mauritius, and much more.

Dive sites around Tamarin and eastern Mauritius
Diving and snorkeling in Tamarin, Mauritius offers a variety of experiences, from introductory dives to coral reefs teeming with life. Here you will encounter a variety of marine species including the possibility of seeing dolphins and whales. The area is known for its beautiful waterscapes, with mostly shallow dives and varying visibility. But there are also octopus, various species of fish that fill the living space of the coral and rocky reefs and also a range of invertebrates such as nudibranchs, crustaceans, flatworms and various cnidarians with anemones and corals.
Tamarin Bay is a good starting point for beginners to scuba dive or snorkel, many sites are shallow and it is easy to get down and experience the dynamics of the reefs. There are over twenty different dive sites within a 20 minute boat ride where you can also encounter turtles, rays and various marine mammals such as dolphins and even sperm whales and other types of whales. Visibility is often limited and varies greatly depending on the weather, waves and wind but can reach up to 30 meters under favorable conditions. The water temperature in Tamarin Bay is usually around 25 degrees Celsius.
Itinerary day by day
Day 1 – 2
You leave Scandinavia and fly overnight to Mauritius International Airport.
On day two you land and have a transfer to La Mariposa Hotel.
Day 2 – 9
Seven nights accommodation, part in a double room including breakfast, at a hotel and four days of training and practical exercises with freediving instruction by Li Karlsén. One day there will be an excursion to the famous and well-known cliff Le Morne in the southeast of Mauritius. After completing the training you will receive the Molchanov Wave 1 certificate (Beginner's Certificate) in freediving.
Day 9
Today you check out and then transfer back to the airport where you check in back home to Scandinavia. If you wish to extend your stay, please contact us.
Day 10
Back in Scandinavia or for those of you who have chosen to continue the adventure in Mauritius or another destination, the journey continues.

Our program is only a preliminary plan that is influenced based on the external conditions that the weather gods reward us with. This means that we may have to move activities and dive sites to other days and also replace planned activities with alternatives if required. We ask you to be flexible.
