Sharks and mackerel, Malapascua and Anilao in the Philippines with Magnus Lundgren in February-March 2025. Only 2 places (one room) left on this trip.

Join Magnus Lundgren on a trip with sharks and macro to Malapascua and Anilao in the Philippines at the end of February 2025. Two fantastic places where Malapascua will offer exciting diving and the opportunity to dive and see sharks. Anilao will be more focused on reefs, macro and hopefully black water diving (night dives out in the sea). Two fantastic and popular places that offer wonderful and fun diving filled with experiences..

UV photography and photographing sharks as well as macro photography in dark waters - You who go on this trip have the opportunity to learn more about photographing sharks. Malapascua is known for its thresher sharks that often come very close. Attempts will be made to see tiger sharks and reef sharks as well so this is an exciting dive trip. Magnus Lundgren will present and go through what you should think about when photographing large animals and often in slightly darker conditions.

The trip is seasoned with a visit to Anilao where you will dive and experience smaller animals, beautiful reefs and have the opportunity to try black water diving. Photographing when it is completely black around you (at night, that is) places additional demands on you and your camera. Normal night diving will be possible, but here diving in the middle of the sea will also be offered for those interested.

You and the other group participants will have fantastic days of diving and relaxation and a unique opportunity to learn more about UV photography and all that it entails. An exciting diving trip with sharks and macro with unique opportunities to see special macro life in Malapascua and Anilao in the Philippines.

Lovely resorts with lots of diving!

Your accommodation – You will live on the island Malapascua in the central Philippines as well as in the Anilao which is south of Manila. Two lovely seaside resorts, each with its own charm and they will offer great service and fantastic diving. The rooms are simply furnished but offer good comfortable accommodation and what you need to enjoy and relax. All rooms have their own shower and toilet, air conditioning and a patio where it's nice to relax for a while after the day's activities.

Breakfast in the accommodation is included and both resorts have their own restaurant and bar. In Anilao you also have massages and a lovely pool to hang out and relax in. The resorts are not for you looking for luxury, the luxury is being here to dive and socialize with other divers and photographers and experience great diving.

Who's going on the trip? - Magnus Lundgren is along for the ride and will be your cicerone and guide above and below the surface. Magnus has led trips all over the world and is a seasoned lecturer and photographer. Magnus's passion for taking on new challenges is clearly visible beneath the surface and you will be able to get many wonderful and good tips to develop as a photographer. This trip with sharks and macro in Malapascua and Anilao will be able to offer many fun encounters below the surface.

Diving in Malapascua and Anilao, Philippines

Malapascua is a little gem in the middle of the Philippines. Here is one of the world's best and most famous places to dive and experience the incredibly beautiful thresher shark. Thresher sharks are basically seen daily out at one of the reefs and the diving is easy, shallow and comfortable. There is an opportunity to have the sharks right up in the mask and to take fantastic pictures.

The former reefs of the thresher sharks have started to attract tiger sharks and we will try to dive there as well to, if possible, experience these bastards as well. In addition to sharks, rays of various kinds are frequently seen here. Other dive sites are, for example, Gato Island, which is done as a day trip and where reef sharks are almost always seen. Apart from sharks, Malapascua is a very nice and relaxing island and there is also very good macro diving here.

Anilao – a diving paradise

Anilao, just south of the great world metropolis of Manila, has become, and rightfully so, one of the Philippines' most popular destinations for divers in recent years. There is fantastic so-called muck diving here. Large areas of sand and mud and interspersed here and there oases with corals and reefs. In addition, amazing reefs, steep rock walls and coral gardens with lots of marine life, fish and enormous species richness. Here there are farts of all imaginable sizes, colors and shapes, even sometimes reef sharks, turtles, tuna, barracuda and other species are sometimes seen, but also stingrays, eagle rays, mantas with luck.

Invertebrates such as octopuses, nudibranchs, crustaceans and echinoderms predominate together with sponges, sea urchins and various corals or sea urchins. The diversity of species is fantastic and all dive sites are relatively close so there are rarely long trips. The diving is varied and different animals thrive more or less well in different places, which is why one day is rarely the same as the next. The marine life is really exciting, so you will be able to experience a lot of strange animals that you might not even have thought or knew existed. The house reef here is one of the best in the Philippines with amazing macro life. In addition to diving during the day, there will be an opportunity for those who wish to try so-called black water diving.

Anilao is a real diving paradise and you can actually go here all year round as the weather is relatively stable and the area is very calm and peaceful. If it's windy, there's almost always an alternative. For those of you who want to extend the trip either at the beginning or after, it is entirely possible and we will help you find good solutions for this.
