Papua New Guinea Liveaboard and Resort – Adventures in November 2026

Papua New Guinea Liveaboard and Resort - Adventure in November 2026
Join us to Papua New Guinea on a real adventure with a liveaboard and resort combined. In the fall of 2026, it will sail to the country of “a million experiences”. The journey will take place in the fall of 2026 via PNG’s capital Port Moresby. From here, you will continue to New Britain in the Bismarck Archipelago and on to the legendary Walindi Plantation resort. Walindi is known all over the world and the world’s best UV photographers have gone here for decades to immortalize the fantastic waters and marine life of Kimbe Bay.
Diving here often surprises and you can find everything from millimetre-sized shrimps and nudibranchs to grey reef sharks, whales, whale sharks, dolphins and even killer whales in these species-rich waters. The macro life is outstanding and the coral reefs offer fantastic views. You can find sponges that are twice the height of a human or gorgonians, fan corals, which are several metres in diameter. Kimbe Bay is a truly fantastic and unique destination. There is also a lot to offer on land with everything from hot springs to traces of World War II in the middle of the jungle and an exceptional flora and fauna.
Lovely liveaboard and combined with resort with lots of diving!
Your accommodation – The trip starts and ends at Walindi Plantation in New Britain. This is a resort with a long history and here you stay close to the sea in simple but comfortable rooms almost in the middle of the jungle. Full board is included and the restaurant is a natural gathering place not only at meals but also between diving and in the evenings where the day's experiences and memories from the past are shared, perhaps while enjoying a cold drink and listening to the croaking of the frogs and the playing of the crickets.
In the middle of the trip you break up and move to a lovely liveaboard, oceania, to experience more of Kimbe Bay and the fantastic species-rich waters and majestic coral reefs found here. The boat offers good accommodation and of course full board is also included here. The boat takes a maximum of 16 guests and takes you on a real adventure out to sea to small green-clad islands surrounded by fantastic reefs and to dive sites that few have been able to visit over the years.
Who's going on the trip? – This trip is done on your own but you will be in good hands the trip where you will be measured on site in Kimbe and then all the way until it is time to return home. The resort and liveaboard are used to long-distance guests and know that diving should be surrounded by service, good food and time for relaxation. For those of you who have dreamed of Papua New Guinea or PNG and a liveaboard, this is a real adventure and we spice up the trip with accommodation at the resort because you are going that far.
Features
Diving in Papua New Guinea, PNG, and Kimbe Bay
Papua New Guinea or PNG as it is called is an enormous country. The diving varies depending on which part you go to and what time of year. Kimbe Bay and Walindi Plantation have become a bit of a cult in the diving world and are one of the very first diving resorts in PNG. Here on the coast on an old coconut farm you will find a simple but family resort where nature is close and where the diving along the coast is absolutely fantastic. There are reefs along the coast and a number of small islands that stick out of the sea and the reefs are absolutely teeming with life. Corals in every conceivable color and shape, gigantic sponges, fan corals that can be up to six to eight meters in diameter, whip corals up to ten meters long and everything is covered in clouds of fish.
Here you will find everything from squid, crustaceans, ghost pipefish, frogfish and lots of nudibranchs to larger schools of tuna, barracuda, batfish, snappers, butterflyfish and many other species. Corals, sponges and hair stars color the reefs to an unlikely palette and an almost impenetrable wall in some places. All this to then plunge straight into the sea where along the walls you can see large animals such as hammerhead sharks, reef sharks and even different species of dolphins including killer whales if you are lucky.
These fantastic colors and shapes with the “fish soup” can then be alternated with sandy bottoms and classic macro diving or muck diving as it is often called. Strange fish species and invertebrates that have found their niche and are grateful photo subjects. Here in Kimbe bay there is also history with aircraft wrecks and boats from the Second World War.
The more remote reefs in the Bismarck Sea offer colors and shapes and pristine reefs, few have had the opportunity to experience these places over the years and you will feel like you are away from most things.
Papua New Guinea, diving for enthusiasts and for those who want to experience something unique
In addition to the large number of species and the fact that you are the only one in a place where not many people go, there are also species here that are rarely seen anywhere else. Nautilus, hairy pipefish, sailfin anthias and wobbegongs are regularly seen (Nautilus are fished up from great depths, however) and there are several endemic species here both in the sea and in freshwater rivers on land that are therefore only found or seen in PNG. Some different ladyfish, rays, blennies, longtail dragonets and gobies are some examples.
Amazing reefs and coral gardens with lots of marine life, fish and huge biodiversity. Turtles, stingrays, eagle rays, manta rays and whale sharks sometimes pass by if you are lucky.
Invertebrates such as octopuses, nudibranchs, crustaceans and echinoderms dominate along with sponges, sea squirts and various corals or cnidarians. The biodiversity is fantastic and all dive sites are normally within 30-45 minutes away, some are a little further but most are relatively close. PNG is really for connoisseurs and you can read more about different reefs and dive sites in the article here.
