We recommend everyone to obtain diving and travel insurance before departure. All our liveaboard operators require customers to bring proof of their insurance to be able to go on the tour. The same applies if you live on land and go diving.
First of all, you can investigate what is included in your home insurance. Ask what applies to the diving you intend to do on your trip (sports diving, wreck diving, technical diving, etc.) as well as medical transport, evacuation if the accident were to occur and you, for example, quickly need to get to a pressure chamber and treatment in a pressure chamber if necessary.
If you pay for your trip by credit card, cancellation protection and other insurances may be included. The conditions are different depending on the agreement you have, so contact the card issuer so you know what is included for you if you pay for the trip with your credit card.
Many times you need a supplement to your home insurance to cover things that can happen during a trip and when diving.
Scuba Travel cooperates with Gouda Travel Insurance, which is part of the Norwegian insurance group Gjensidige, which has insured life and health since 1816 and is Norway's largest insurance company. In Sweden, Gouda Travel Insurance is one of the leading market players in the travel insurance segment. Gouda currently insures more than 2 million travelers per year.
For us at Scuba Travel, it is important that you are properly insured when you travel with us. We can today offer travel insurance via Gouda that also applies in the event of pandemics/epidemics, which is particularly important today.
With Gouda's cancellation insurance, you can get your money back if something unforeseen happens that prevents you from traveling. In addition to the actual trip with flights and hotels, you also insure other travel costs such as transfers, events, specific activities and the like. The cancellation insurance applies without excess. The insurance costs 7% of the trip price (9% on amounts over SEK 250).
The cancellation insurance covers, among other things, if you have to cancel your trip due to any of the following reasons:
Supplement to home insurance
What does the Supplement to the home insurance include?
Healthcare costs
You receive compensation for care costs up to SEK 2000 or the deductible in the home insurance.
Compensation for lost travel days – (Applies if you include holiday guarantee)
If you become ill and bedridden for a shorter period of time on holiday, you will receive compensation with a daily share per ruined travel day.
Travel insurance (comprehensive)
You choose the Travel insurance option if you do not have home insurance or if your home insurance's travel cover lacks scope for pandemics/epidemics or events linked to Covid-19. Gouda's travel insurance applies to Covid-19 and covers care costs in the event of an acute illness should you fall ill during the trip.
What does the travel insurance cover?
Gouda gives you the extra security you need on your trip!
As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the world hard and many are today unsure of the possibilities for a trip abroad. We are therefore happy that we have a collaboration with Gouda Travel Insurance, which offers the market's safest travel insurance.
NEW!
The insurance now also covers additional costs if you are quarantined and cannot travel home as planned, regardless of whether you are infected or not.- Applies when you include the holiday guarantee option
Below we have collected the most common questions regarding Covid-19 with associated answers.
The answer below refers to Gouda's "comprehensive insurance", i.e. the travel cover where Gouda is your primary insurer.
How does the insurance apply if I contract Covid-19 on my trip?
If you test positive for Covid-19, the insurance covers you in the same way as any other acute illness. The insurance then reimburses your healthcare costs.
If you choose to buy a supplement to the home insurance, you need to ensure that your home insurance does not have exceptions for pandemics/epidemics and general exceptions for Covid-19, as Gouda's insurance only covers SEK 2.000 or the deductible in your home insurance.
Does the insurance cover the cost of a Covid-19 test during the stay abroad?
Yes, the insurance covers the cost of a Covid-19 test if you have symptoms. If the test is set as a requirement by authorities, airlines or the like, this is not covered by the insurance, but becomes a cost you have to cover yourself. It is important that you always contact Gouda's alarm center so that we have the opportunity to help you.
What happens if I get sick with Covid-19 and am quarantined?
In addition to compensation for the medical care itself, the insurance covers additional costs for a new trip home if you cannot go home as planned due to illness.
If you choose to buy Supplement to the home insurance, Gouda's insurance replaces the excess of your home insurance and you also have the opportunity to apply for compensation for ruined vacation days.
What happens if I am quarantined without being sick myself?
Gouda has expanded the scope of our insurances and now reimburses additional costs if you are quarantined by a foreign authority during the trip - regardless of whether you are sick or not - if you cannot travel home as planned. The insurance covers additional costs for food, accommodation and new plane tickets to SEK 30.000 per person or SEK 100.000 for an entire family. The quarantine entry is included in both insurances, i.e. Comprehensive and supplementary insurance.
What do I do if I get sick abroad?
To the extent possible, you should always contact Gouda's alarm center. They help you by referring you to the nearest healthcare provider/hospital and can also issue payment guarantees for you so that you avoid out-of-pocket expenses. Gouda's alarm center is open XNUMX hours a day, every day of the year.
If you have chosen Supplement to home insurance, contact SOS Alarm. Feel free to look through your insurance papers and take the necessary documentation with you on your trip.
SOS Alarm is the home insurance companies' alarm center and helps you if something more serious happens.
Note! - that most cancellation protections must be purchased within 48 hours of booking a trip and paying the registration fee, otherwise they do not apply!!!
