The best time to dive in Oman is April to May and September to October, offering ideal water temperatures and calm conditions for most areas. If you want to see whale sharks, the season runs from July to September, while the southern region near Salalah offers a unique experience during the summer monsoon from June to September.

The Daymaniyat Islands in the northern parts are very popular and whale sharks and manta rays are often seen here. In the southern parts and the islands of Khuriya Muriya and Al Hallaiyyah, humpback whales and dolphinsThe humpback whales here in the Arabian Sea are the most genetically distinct humpback whales in the world and may be the most isolated whale population on Earth. In addition to marine life, there are also several different wrecks.
The Daimaniyat Islands north of Muscat are widely considered to be the best diving in Oman. Here you will find coral reefs, rich marine life with species such as rays and turtles. Here you will often see different species of moray eels and the possibility of seeing whale sharks.
In southern Oman, the Hallaniyat Islands (or Khuriya Murya Islands) near Salalah are a similar experience. The season is best here, especially during the November to April season, and features kelp forests and other marine life than in the northern parts.
There is one liveaboard in Oman currently and it changes parts of the country depending on the season. The liveaboard offers dive cruises all year round and normally they run over seven nights. Some trips during select parts of the year, especially when the boat moves from south to north or vice versa, can be ten to eleven nights on board.

You will most likely need at least one night in place before you go on a liveaboard in Oman. It may also be needed after your liveaboard on land. All flights landar and starts as much as possible late afternoons until early mornings, as in most countries in the Middle East, to avoid the worst heat in the middle of the day and have better aerodynamic conditions. We recommend adding a few days in place to experience the beautiful country, architecture and nature.
