We recommend everyone to obtain diving and travel insurance before departure. All our liveaboard operators require customers to bring proof of their insurance to be able to go on the tour. The same applies if you live on land and go diving.

First of all, you can investigate what is included in your home insurance. Ask what applies to the diving you intend to do on your trip (sports diving, wreck diving, technical diving, etc.) as well as medical transport, evacuation if the accident were to occur and you, for example, quickly need to get to a pressure chamber and treatment in a pressure chamber if necessary.

If you pay for your trip by credit card, cancellation protection and other insurances may be included. The conditions are different depending on the agreement you have, so contact the card issuer so you know what is included for you if you pay for the trip with your credit card.

Many times you need a supplement to your home insurance to cover things that can happen during a trip and when diving.

Scuba Travel cooperates with Gouda Travel Insurance, which is part of the Norwegian insurance group Gjensidige, which has insured life and health since 1816 and is Norway's largest insurance company. In Sweden, Gouda Travel Insurance is one of the leading market players in the travel insurance segment. Gouda currently insures more than 2 million travelers per year.

For us at Scuba Travel, it is important that you are properly insured when you travel with us. We can today offer travel insurance via Gouda that also applies in the event of pandemics/epidemics, which is particularly important today.

Plan your packing carefully – especially considering the varying baggage rules of airlines. Always check the allowed weight and dimensions on your airline’s website and on your ticket. Keep in mind that lightweight bags provide more space for equipment and that large hard bags may be impractical on liveaboards with limited space.

Diving equipment:

  • Large light bag for check-in, preferably with a padlock or code lock
  • Mask and snorkel – NOTE: if you have a mask with corrective lenses, we recommend that you bring it in your carry-on luggage as you have more control over it. Masks with corrective lenses are often difficult to find, especially on a liveaboard.
  • Fins, heel strap with spare straps
  • Boots
  • Wetsuit/Drysuit/Rash guard
  • Regulator - without or with dry suit hose, with vest hose. Make sure it is serviced and working before you travel.
  • Yoke adapter - to regulator if you have DIN thread - Important! - Most boats today have inserts for both types but INT coupling (Yoke) is still the most common
  • Dive computer - check the batteries
  • Vest, BCD, wing, plate
  • Knife - checked in, NOT hand luggage
  • Cleaning nozzle? - for vest hose to facilitate cleaning of, for example, camera and o-rings
  • Lamp – new batteries, or charger
  • Magnifying glass, unbreakable - to find small funny things underwater

Camera equipment:

  • Camera UV or case, with flash - check the memory cards and o-rings well before you leave
  • UV housing - remove O-ring during travel or unmounted (The negative pressure in an aircraft causes the o-rings to stick and it can be very difficult to open)
  • Flashes - without batteries, without cover fitted
  • Rechargeable batteries - with at least one charger
  • Branch socket for electricity - for several simultaneous chargers, possibly adapters
  • Silicone grease - for o-rings, camera gaskets and more
  • Tools for camera and camera housing

Hygiene products:
Hygiene items and any medications and plasters as needed. Keep in mind that all creams and liquids may contain a maximum of 100 ml if you take them in hand luggage and must be packed in a separate plastic bag.

Medicines and the like:
NOTE! – If you have prescription medications, bring the prescription with you IF you happen to lose your medications for any reason! Preferably in English.

Many liveaboarders are well equipped with medications while others don't have much at all. On board liveaboards, many people usually help each other when it comes to medicines.

Other things to bring:

  • Passport, national ID
  • Money, credit card
  • Phone
  • Laptop
  • Charger for electrical items
  • Itinerary, programs, vouchers
  • Leave information to relatives
  • Diving certificate
  • Insurance papers
