Cocos Island safari liveaboard
On a diving trip and a Cocos Island safari liveaboard, the primary attractions are the really big animals. We first think of hammerhead sharks, rays, manta rays, turtles, Galapagos sharks and silky sharks. Plus huge shoals of tuna, horse mackerel and other fish. If you're lucky, you may even catch sight of the occasional whale shark, marlin and dolphin. The seabed at Cocos Island consists of volcanic rock. Most dive sites are best diving between 15-30 meters deep and usually offer a visibility of around 20-30 meters but can sometimes be more or less.
- Whales, sea turtles, sharks, manta rays and dolphins
- One of the world's best diving destinations
- A destination for the slightly more advanced diver
Most days you will be able to do up to four dives. Please note that night dives on Cocos Island are no longer offered for safety reasons. You should know that it is a 28-32 hour boat ride to get out to this lot remote island and dive destination. Cocos Island is unique in many ways and some may experience the boat trip here as tough and demanding. Once out at Cocos, the water can be quite swift and we therefore recommend that you have at least an advanced certificate or similar and that you have done at least 30 logged dives. You should feel safe in your diving and be out at sea and have good control over your balance.
