Get Wrecked diving trip to Egypt. Liveaboard with wreck diving
A dive trip to Egypt where you do the Get Wrecked route with a liveaboard is for you who really like wrecks and diving on them. The goal of this entire safari is to dive as many of Egypt's wrecks in the northern parts of the Red Sea as possible. In addition to most of all the known wrecks in this area, you will also dive on some reefs. The tour is of course subject to weather and wind permitting. Combined with all the exciting wrecks, you'll also get to see beautiful reefs and rich underwater life. A general recommendation is that you have PADI Advanced Open Water diving certificate or equivalent to get the most out of your dive.
Lots of different wrecks on the program
Your dive trip to Egypt with Get wrecked will start in Hurghada. Then the tour will go in the northern parts of the Red Sea to visit all the amazing wrecks. Some examples are El Mina which is an Egyptian minesweeper. She is pretty much right outside the port of Hurghada. The Suzanna wreck is a small private yacht and will probably also be attempted to dive. Of course, the more famous wrecks at Abu Nuhas are also included. One of the most famous reefs in the Red Sea where as many as four large wrecks lie. Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K and Kimon M are all here waiting for your dives.
The safari then continues towards the Gubal Islands and here too you will experience fine wrecks such as the tug Barge as well as Ulysses and Rosalie Möller. Rosalie Möller is in pretty good condition and although visibility can sometimes be somewhat limited, the fish life is fantastic. The entire wreck is also covered in various beautiful corals and sponges. Here you dive on the wrecks and the parts of the cargo from Ulysses that are scattered among the reefs and corals in the surroundings.
Further on diving trips in these parts, visits to the wrecks around Shaab Ali are planned. Those wrecks are Kingston, Carina and of course the Red Sea's most famous wreck, the Thistlegorm. An impressive British ship from the Second World War. She was loaded full of ammunition and vehicles to be delivered to the British troops in North Africa. However, she was sunk by the German Luftwaffe and has since been at a depth of 30 meters. Hopefully it is possible to do a night dive here, but it depends on currents, weather and the divers' experience.
Fantastic trip for uv photographers and wreck lovers
In the vicinity of Thistlegorm is the marine park Ras Mohamed where the Dunraven wreck lies at a depth of about 25 metres. Ras Mohamed, the extreme and southern tip of Sinai, often forms the border where the boats turn around and then sail back to Hurghada. The possibility of getting here depends on the weather but also how you are available in terms of time on the safari. Many of the spectacular wrecks you have the opportunity to experience on this trip are popular with underwater photographers. Several of them are covered in coral and hold large shoals of fish. Especially the Carnatic, which sank as early as 1869, but also the Thistlegorm with its load of ammunition, cannons and other military equipment is popular for immortalization.
Your diving trip with the Get wrecked Safari in Egypt not only offers wrecks, but you will also have the opportunity to dive on some of the reefs at the Strait of Gubal, the Gulf of Suez and also north of Hurghada. For those of you who are not completely die-hard wreck divers, it can be a nice break. At the reefs, you are offered a nice mix of steep wall dives and coral gardens. Here, marine life thrives and displays a fantastic variety of reef fish and other pelagic species. Diving trips to Egypt and the Get wrecked in Egypt tour is quite similar to some of the other tours but they try to include more wrecks on this tour. A really lovely one live board with lots of wreck diving that is well worth trying in any case.
The tours in the northern Red Sea go by many names and the tours are often similar. Depending on the season, weather and liveaboard operator, the tours may be called differently but the content is often quite similar.
