Diving with Extra Divers

Extra Divers, which is close to the accommodation, offers diving all year round. They have two large boats well adapted to the conditions here on Christmas Island. You do two dives per day normally, but it may be possible to do more depending on the number of diving guests. The boats are large and modern and take you quickly and efficiently even to more remote places on the other side of the island.

The diving can be very varied and sometimes strong current or big waves but normally it is not very difficult. Here you experience dramatic wall dives, large sharks that sometimes pass by and sometimes the very largest whale sharks. Also hammerhead sharks, blue sharks, silky sharks, silvertips, gray reef sharks and various types of rays are seen here regularly, as well as schools of barracuda, tuna and many times dolphins and turtles.

All this in addition to very fine hard corals and a lot of fish with several endemic species, many different kinds of moray eels and also invertebrates in a visibility that is often over 40 meters. You can also dive in coral gardens or experience one of the caves found here as well. The diving here is really good and apart from the diving, the diving center can advise on many fun land experiences you can do when you are not diving.

The sea maintains a year-round temperature of 27-29°C so a thinner wetsuit normally works great. For those who wish to dive with nitrox, that option is also available. Christmas Island is something for you who are looking for adventure and something different and want to get close to nature and during the crab migration there are very good chances for good action even under the surface, that's when the big plankton eaters come, otherwise you can dive here all year round.
