Aquaventure Maldives, diving in the southern Maldives

Aquaventure Maldives in the southern Maldives, south of the Equator lies one of the country's perhaps least discovered atolls, Addu. Here, several islands are connected by bridges, so it is actually possible to cycle for a few miles and it offers something completely different to other parts of the country. In addition, the atoll is quite unique as it is always possible to dive regardless of the weather. The atoll is known for large fish and perhaps most of all for its manta rays, which are found here all year round. On one of the islands is a really good guesthouse that is not that big so it becomes personal and the staff is very service minded.

At the Equatorial Divers Lodge on Feydhoo Island there are a total of 10 double rooms and as a complement there is also the True Sunset Beach House with 7 more rooms on Maradhoo Island. Breakfast and three dives a day are included in your diving package, sea flights from and to Male airport and transfers are also included.

You live simply but it's cozy and personal and there's an inhouse pool to lounge and relax in. It's nice to go out on the islands by bike and look around so there's always something to see and do even when you're not diving. The southern Maldives is not yet as discovered and dived as the other parts further north and this means that the experience here will be a little different and you will not have many tourists around you.

Dive and snorkel with Aquaventure Maldives

  • Manta rays, manta rays, manta rays
  • The Maldives' largest wreck – 140 meters at a depth of 31 meters
  • Always diveable
  • Sharks of different species
  • Snorkeling trips from land and boat
  • Wide range of PADI courses

The southernmost Addu atoll in the Maldives is very different from the other atolls. Here there are only four channels into the atoll and this means that it is always possible to dive. There are always places without waves and strong wind. Addu atoll is known for large marine life. It is probably the only place in the Maldives that can offer manta rays at its grooming stations all year round. In addition to the mantas that have made Gan and Addu atoll famous, there are also plenty of sharks here. With a bit of luck, both tiger and hammerhead sharks can pass over the reef or out of the blue. Plus plenty of reef sharks, sailfish, nurse sharks and various rays.

Just 15 minutes from the dive center is also the Maldives' largest wreck, The British Loyalty, from the Second World War. She rests at a depth of approximately 30 meters. With its 140 meter long hull, fully covered with corals and sponges, it's a really cool dive. All dive sites can be reached within 90 minutes from the dive center, but most are significantly closer. The diving center offers courses up to Divemaster and you do up to three dives per day. Nitrox is available for those who are certified. Addu and Gan is truly unique. Perhaps the best diving in the Maldives and here the guides do everything they can to ensure that you are satisfied with your diving.

For those who want to see something different in the Maldives, this atoll is really worth a visit and for those who like big fish, this is perhaps one of the best places to dive in the Maldives today.
