Highlights
On your diving trip with this wonderful Sharktastic diving safari in the Maldives, you focus on seeing bigger sharks. The route is only available between January and April. During this time of year the currents are good. They then rush in from the eastern side of the Maldives and the current comes from Sumatra in Indonesia. They not only bring fantastic visibility of up to 40 meters but also a blissful mix of marine life that comes to the Maldives to eat their fill. The opportunities to dive with and experience large marine species are good at this time of year.
This safari takes you to the east coast of the Maldives for great canal diving. These channels or kandus as they are called in the local language (Dhivehi) attract gray reef shark, whitetip reef shark tuna and eagle rays. The channels at Vaavu and Meemu are lined with beautiful walls lined with blue, yellow and pink corals.
After this adrenaline rush with current diving, it's time to cross the sea over to South Ari Atoll. There you will scout for whale sharks and manta rays at Maamagili and Rangali Madivaru. (Madivaru means the manta place in Dhivehi). You will also have the opportunity to explore dive sites such as Kudarah Thila and the Kudimaa wreck. It is not uncommon to see blanket at several of the dive sites during your diving trip, but right here they are very common.
