Dive into Raja Ampat, Waivo dive resort

Dive Into Raja Ampat and Waivo dive resort on the island of Waivo has recently received a proper review and is now a resort with a really good standard. You get here by plane to Sorong and you meet at the airport and then go by ferry (hospital) to Waivo Island. It takes about two hours in total. From there it is only a short transfer to this wonderfully located resort. The environment here feels close to nature and it is a little cooler under all the tree canopies that have been allowed to remain. There is a rich bird life and even birds of paradise are seen here sometimes.

A local cuscus sometimes comes to visit and usually pleases all visitors. The advantage of this resort, apart from the fact that it is very beautifully located on its own beach, is that you can go here any day of the week or back. All other resorts in the region have one or a maximum of two fixed travel days a week. This gives you much greater flexibility here with how long you want your diving holiday to be. It also makes it easy to combine with one live board.

Good accommodation with full board

The rooms are of three different standards. The most popular are the Waterfront villas and they are booked up well in advance so a few more are in the process of being built. All rooms regardless have western bathrooms and air conditioning. The resort has its own dive center, and here are equipment and storage facilities. Lockable cabinets and a new, fresh camera room for UV photographers with plenty of charging and service options. There is also a large, lovely restaurant building where you have full board and the food is consistently good and varied. There is a small local lounge area where you can sit and browse books. Or why not have a drink after the day's diving or just relax and socialize.

You can go here all year round and dive, but the least windy part of the year is normally October - March. Rain can occur all year round with that being the tropical environment and the temperature rarely drops below 27-28°C.

  • Three different room categories with private shower/toilet
  • Dive center at the resort
  • Daily boat trips and transfers
  • Restaurant
  • Amazing species richness
  • Wi-Fi

Diving with Waivo Resort

The dive center here has several boats and offers diving over a large area to give you the greatest possible variety. Here there is a diving center with equipment to rent, but book well in advance as there are limited sizes. It is not always possible to get equipment so quickly here. Here you have a large, spacious camera room and a very skilled and service-oriented staff. Normally you do two dives after breakfast and then back for a relaxing and nourishing lunch. Then you can go on the third dive of the day after resting for a while and having time to digest the food. The waters here in West Papua are among the richest in species in the world and here there are fantastic coral gardens, walls, stream dives, with loads of fish and invertebrates to experience.

Few places in the world can even come close to the number of species of fish you have the opportunity to see here in Raja Ampat. If there is something in particular you are interested in, tell the guides and they will surely know where to look and try to find it for you. Here you can find everything from large to small, and it is common to see shoals of parrotfish, butterflyfish, fusilliers, tuna, barracuda. Sometimes also slightly larger fish such as spadefish, reef sharks, wobbegongs and even turtles appear from time to time. Raja Ampat is unique and here there is an awful lot to experience and see so the time will fly by when you are here.

If you want to combine your diving trip to Raja Ampat with other places in Indonesia, we will arrange it. For example Sulawesi or the Moluccas with Ambon is easy to put together a trip with.
