Cree Eco Resort
Kri Eco Resort was the first resort in Raja Empat to open in this region, already in 1994 it was up and running. The resort is simple and is built in traditional Papuan style, no nails and screws but all natural materials and almost all the bungalows stand on pillars in the sea.
The rooms are simple, bordering on primitive, but it really feels like being in New Guinea, far from everything. Toilets are of the usual standard but the showers are simple, so-called mandis, and the water is brackish to avoid mosquitoes. The owner Max Ammer also has the Sorido bay resort which is a little more luxurious but is on the same island.
Kri Eco resort is simple but the service is good and the food is very good. The diving is done in the immediate area and it is also what perhaps offers the very best diving in the region. Up to three dives per day are offered by boat, but it is also possible to do a fourth dive along the house reef, which is very rich in life. Diving takes place every day of the week except Saturdays, which are a day off.
All transfers, as well as for almost all resorts in this region included in the basic packages, take place only two days a week. Other days of the week it costs extra to come to the resort. It's not luxury living here, the real luxury is being here.
