An absolute must is to book a diving trip with Truk Lagoon and diving in Micronesia. Here in Truk or Chuuk you will find perhaps the world's best and most famous wreck diving. The temperature is pleasant all year round and is almost constant at 28-29°C.  Live aboard and diving trips here depart from Weno and take you directly to the places where the concentration of wrecks is found in the lagoon. The boat will anchor over the deeper wrecks, so you can easily get down directly to the wreck.

Technical divers can benefit from support from the boat, while rib boats transport less experienced divers to shallower locations. They can also offer reef diving as an alternative to just diving on wrecks. Diving in Micronesia also has a rich marine life and you often see larger fish such as rays and sharks.

Lots of wreckage

Many of the wrecks are so-called "Maru" or merchant ships in Japanese. They had been left at anchor when the battle got underway. Some of the ships had been fortified with anti-aircraft guns and many carried important army supplies. Even Zero Fighter aircraft, tanks, torpedoes, trucks and road supplies. On board were bottles of sake, beer and other things. Kitchen utensils, objects from everyday life and personal belongings.

You can find and see all this and more on several of the wrecks and they provide a very tangible reminder to you divers of those who lost their lives during the battle. The more morbid reminders of the battle, such as human remains, have today been removed and are now rarely seen and only in the deeper parts of the wrecks.
