Diving at the Banda Sea and Tomini bay

The dive sites in the region are mostly rocky reefs. Reefs consist of rocks, underwater ridges or large stones. But they are covered with a very dense fauna. Black corals, large gorgonians, sponges, hair stars and lots of beautiful soft corals color the rocks. Marine life is richly concentrated here.

On the sandy parts or at the edge of the coastline you will discover a wonderful microflora during your macro diving. Many of the creatures that make Sulawesi's reputation so admirable are found here. For example, frogfish, ghost pipefish, mimic octopus, blueringed octopus, flambouyant cuttlefish and much more are common. On the beach right in front of the bungalows there is a black sand bank. It is one of the best dive sites in the area and here you are free to dive as much as you want.

Most of the other dive sites are underwater reefs and rocks. They offer a great variety and large quantities of fish with different shoals and pelagic fish. The shoal can be surgeonfish, trevallies, barracudas, giant trevallies and tuna. You also often see reef sharks hunting or patrolling the reefs and both eagle rays and manta rays can also be seen on occasion.

Very rich marine life

The rich fish life is a direct result of the abundance of plankton found here. Water from the deep Banda Sea mixes here with warmed water from the foundering Tomini Bay. The rich, nutrient-rich waters can sometimes limit visibility a bit. Normally, you have a visibility of between 10 and 15 meters, but it can vary greatly. Most of the dive sites here are close to the lodge. It is usually no more than 10 to 15 minutes by boat from the resort.

The furthest dive site is about a 30-minute drive away. Each boat takes 4 divers along with the dive guides. Your diving trip includes two boat dives per day and that you have access to unlimited land diving. There is both air and nitrox available. PADI diving courses are also offered on request, but you go here mainly to experience a genuine environment, relaxation and something different. Of course also lots of good diving. It is also possible during certain parts of the year to combine the resort with live board which then departs or arrives at the resort.
