Diving with Scuba with Melki
We organize the diving with Tasik Divers and Scuba with Melki. They have diving centers in several other places in Indonesia and extensive experience in diving in Bali and in Indonesia. Here in Sanur they work with Taksu Sanur hotel and take guests and divers to nearby Nusa Penida. You go by boat from Sanur and come to these somewhat "wild" islands to mainly experience mola mola or lumpfish in season as well as manta rays or devil robes.
Manta Point out at the southern part of Nusa Point is known for its grooming station and where manta rays come basically daily to get their "spa treatment".
The diving at manta point is generally easy and shallow where you mostly lie still and wait but you can also see stingrays and sometimes even various smaller shark species pass by. At Crystal Bay it is fairly common to see lumpfish in season but be prepared for cold water, sometimes down to 17-18°C in extreme cases although 22-23°C is more common. Here it is also very deep between the islands and you have to watch out for currents. Up at the northern part you have nice reefs and where you can often do current dives with lots of fish and sometimes even dolphins and whale sharks are seen passing by. Eagle rays and reef sharks are quite common as are turtles and lots of small marine life.
Taksu Sanur Hotel in Bali is a good place for those who want to complement diving at Nusa Penida for a day or two or just have it as a base for a few days of vacation and enjoy Sanur. It's a really good place to spend a few days if you're moving on Indonesia on a liveaboard, for example.
