Exotic Island Resort Malapscua
Exotic Island Dive Resort was the first dive center on Malapascua and was built back in 1997. They were also the ones who discovered Monad Shoal. The reef that has made the island widely known as perhaps the best place in the world to dive and experience thresher sharks. It is now a 5 star IDC Resort. The dive shop has expanded rapidly over the years and now has 4 large "banka" boats, 1 smaller dive boat and 2 flat boats. There is also a nitrox facility, multimedia classrooms and a large team of experienced instructors and Divemasters.
Another ongoing project they embarked on was their house reef in 2001. Over the years they have sunk jeeps, concrete thresher sharks and a variety of man-made objects. They have created a special artificial environment where fish and marine life thrive. In 2008 they were awarded an Environmental Achievement Award from Project AWARE for their work on this reef.
Exotic Island Dive resort at Malapascua offers six different room categories. From standard rooms to Beachfront deluxe and suite. You will also find a well maintained garden area where they also grow their own spices.
Own restaurant, own pizzeria and own bar
There is an on-site restaurant that offers a wide selection of authentic dishes from around the world. There is something for everyone, from European and Asian favorites to wonderful Filipino specialties. Everything from salads, to soups, to sizzling seafood dishes and much more! No other restaurant on the island offers the same variety and quality of dishes, which keeps guests coming back again and again. There is also an own pizzeria here.
Exotic's One Up Bar is the only place on the island where you can have a “brew-with-a-view”. It is the only bar with a picturesque sea view, as well as the only one that has draft beer on the island. Heineken, Stella Artois, Hoegdarden and Paulaner just to name a few. Relax and enjoy the vibrant colors as the sun sets. While sipping one of their signature cocktails or fresh fruit shakes.
You can of course also combine your stay at Malapascua with other locations in the Philippines or with one live board.

Diving at Malapascua
The dive center is located directly on the beach and their shop is airy and well stocked and there is plenty of equipment to rent. You can do up to 4 dives a day. Of course, the highlight is the elusive and mysterious Thresher Shark. This dive is unique and sets Malapascua apart from most other places on earth. You start early with a dive at Monad Shoal, then two dives during the day and finish with a sunset or night dive. As much as possible, a schedule is organized that allows you to see the best of what Malapascua Island has to offer.
Don't miss a day trip to Gato Island and the exciting cave where you often see sharks. If possible, take a day trip to the beautiful atoll of Kalangaman Island. This is a real paradise island and great for your selfies. (Favorable weather and sea conditions required)
The dive center tries as much as possible to use local dive guides as they are most familiar with the reefs and their marine life. Malapascua also has a reputation for top-notch macro diving. It is guaranteed that you will see a variety of different critters. For example nudibranchs, frogfish, mandarin fish, squid, seahorses, pegasus fish, squid, gurnards and various pipefish. You will also find flatworms, crustaceans and various echinoderms here in large quantities.
The water temperature varies from 25° -26°C in December to February and 27° -30°C the rest of the year. A wetsuit of 3 – 5 mm is recommended. Aluminum diving tanks are available with both DIN and Yoke couplings. You can also take various PADI diving courses here as well as diving with nitrox.
