Spice Island Divers Ambon in Indonesia and the Moluccas
Spice Island divers is located on the fantastic and in diving circles, the island of Ambon in the southern Moluccas. Directly at the beach where you have access to fantastic diving on the house reef. There are 10 spacious bungalows and 4 Garden rooms. They are just a stone's throw from the beach and the main building where you have the diving center and restaurant. Here you always have a wonderful view directly towards the sea. All the air-conditioned bungalows have a terrace.
Directly in front of the resort is a fantastic house reef, where you can dive from the jetty or directly from shore. The marine life here is absolutely fantastic with lots of strange animals such as crustaceans, octopuses, nudibranchs, frogfish, ghost pipefish and much much more. Here is also very suitable for snorkelers (swimming shoes or boots are recommended though). Frogfish are very common here and many different species, colors and sizes.
The world's best place for frogfish?
In the horseshoe-shaped bay, you have some of the world's undoubtedly best muck and macro diving. On the outside of the island you will find magnificent rock walls covered with coral and fantastic cave and rock formations below the surface. Sometimes hammerhead sharks and other large fish such as whale sharks and manta rays can appear. Large shoals of tuna or barracuda are also quite common.
During the height of the spice trade, the spices were worth more than their weight in gold. Also, don't miss a visit to the local market where you'll find a colorful array of spices, fruits and vegetables. Here you have plenty of unique photo opportunities.
All meals here are served à la carte and the food is good and varied. A night on the way there and/or back via Jakarta is recommended to make your diving trip as smooth as possible. Here, chances are you'll see many different ones liveaboards Pass. Especially during spring or autumn when they do their transition trips between Komodo and Raja Ampat. It is also the starting point for several liveaboards in the Banda Sea. For those who like macro diving, this is a true paradise.

Diving in Ambon
Spice Island Divers or formerly Maluku Divers is located directly by the sea and offers fabulously good and exciting diving directly from land. Every day there are also 2-3 boat trips to different parts of the island. Inside the bay, it is primarily macro diving that is absolutely world class. For those of you who like frogfish, this is probably, if not the best, then definitely top three in the world.
Here there is also the possibility to sometimes see the mythical "holy grail" psychedelic frogfish.
The diving center also takes you out on slightly longer trips on the outside of the island when the weather permits. Here you will find fantastic coral reefs, exciting rock formations and caves. The marine life differs enormously from the "inside" of the island with often large fish and fantastic visibility.
Schools of barracuda or tuna or larger pelagic species and even schools of hammerhead sharks are sometimes seen. But it is macro diving and all the incredibly strange fish and critters that have made Ambon famous over the years. Even at the beach, the diving is really sharp with lots of crustaceans, octopuses, echinoderms and nudibranchs in a nice mix. Two dive boats are available for diving excursions.
The diving is very varied and with amazing coral reefs, walls, slopes and here is a paradise for wide angle photography as well as macro. Here you can also see rays and turtles. Dolphins are also sometimes seen here, who live here more or less all year round.
The macro life is fabulous and here it teems with different species in all imaginable colors and shapes. For those who like macro, here you have lots of different nudibranchs in all the colors of the rainbow and in all imaginable sizes.
For those who are searching diving in absolute top class so Ambon is absolutely among the best you can experience in Indonesia.
