Diving around the Bangka Archipelago
The diving around Bangka is a combination of wall diving, much like you experience in Bunaken, and muck diving which is more pronounced in Lembeh Strait. There are also beautiful coral gardens and reefs that offer very nice snorkeling. There are over 40 dive sites in the Bangka Archipelago, including some muck dive sites on the mainland. The nearest dive sites are between 5 and 15 minutes away by boat. There are also sites that are up to 30 minutes away from Bastiano's Bangka Dive Resort. Husrevet is popular and considered one of the best dive sites in the area with a long reef that is great for current diving. Several other resorts also go here as it is so good.
You mainly dive around Bangka Island and some of the nearby mainland sites. Excursions to Talise Island are also offered for you and guests staying longer, where there are diving sites that are not visited as often but to which we sometimes make trips.
Here you get to experience healthy reefs with both soft and hard corals, fantastic underwater mountains, walls, caves, bottoms with seaweed, sandy bays and muck diving with a great diversity of marine life. Dolphins and dugongs are also occasionally seen in the area.
In addition to the wide variety of corals and marine life, our local dive guides have great knowledge and talent to find the area's many treasures.
Diving around the Bangka Archipelago is available year-round and conditions vary. From March to June is the dry season, but we can still have occasional rainy days. November to February is the rainy season in Indonesia, you can go here as the diving is good but expect rain. From July to October it is usually a bit more windy. Optimally, you combine Bastiano's Bangka Dive Resort with Bunaken or Lembeh.
