Bastiano's (Froggies) Lembeh Dive Resort opened its doors back in 2006, we established our business in Lembeh. Then in 2022 they took over former Froggies Divers Lembeh a bit south on Lembeh Island. Here you have a lovely view of the strait and close to fantastic experiences and top class macro diving. Accommodation at Bastiano's Froggies Lembeh Dive resort consists of traditional Indonesian wooden cabins and bungalows but with Western style bathrooms and hot water.

The food is consistently good and in the evenings you can sit in the restaurant or bar or why not on your patio and enjoy crickets, frogs, passing boats and a refreshing drink. When the sun goes down, a calm settles down that will make you relax and recharge your batteries for the next day's diving. The journey here from the airport or Manado city center to the port on the east side of Sulawesi and the resort usually takes about one and a half to two hours by car and boat. This is a wonderful place to combine with other dive sites in the region, Bunaken marine park on the west side and Bangka or Gangga up north.

There are 5 superior air-conditioned beachfront rooms available. These wooden bungalows have a private veranda and an en suite bathroom that offers a hot water shower and a western toilet.

There are 7 Superior rooms on the hillside just above the Seafront bungalows and all have air conditioning. All bungalows are built of wood and have a private veranda and a private bathroom that offers a hot water shower and a western toilet.

There are 4 Standard rooms that all have air conditioning available, where 2 rooms share 1 bungalow roof and we have 2 such bungalows. Each room has a private bathroom with a shower, hot water and a western toilet.

Diving around Lembeh Strait

Lembeh Island is opposite the port city of Bitung, which is the second largest city in North Sulawesi after Manado. Between Bitung and Lembeh Island you will find the Lembeh Strait, internationally known for its amazing macro diving and odd marine life. Lembeh Strait is a diving area rich in life of unusual and strange species. Here you can see several different species that you might otherwise only have dreamed about. The area around Lembeh is rich in dark volcanic sand, which is partly responsible for the rich marine life.

Larry Smith who pioneered diving in Lembeh Strait in the early/mid 1990's and was the one who introduced the amazing macro diving right here. (Muck diving otherwise started in PNG). It didn't take long before the world turned its eyes here and since then macro diving or muck diving as it is often called has grown into a big industry not only in Lembeh and Sulawesi but to other parts of Indonesia and the rest of the world, mainly in Southeast Asia.
He claimed at the time that Lembeh Strait is one of the best muck diving destinations in the world which it was even though many other sites today can compete.

Simple and very rewarding diving

Diving around Lembeh Strait is generally simple, easy and usually shallow. Most dive sites here are at a depth of around 15 metres, and the maximum depth is around 25 metres. There are occasional places where you reach +30 meters and sometimes it can be really strong. It is always possible to find dive sites without electricity.

Lembeh's low swell and normally gentle currents make it ideal for macro and super-macro photography. The view is usually never perfect, but always good enough for macro. Although Lembeh is best known for macro diving, there are also a number of wrecks and some wide-angle spots in the northern part. Although rare critters are easy to find in Lembeh compared to many other diving destinations, Lembeh Strait is much more than just the world-famous muck diving capital.

NAD Lembeh resort in Sulawesi

NAD Lembeh resort is located in the middle of the Lembeh Strait, beautifully situated in a small bay. Here you will find peace and relaxation, fantastic diving guides. Normally a maximum of two divers per guide, good food and a real paradise for macro diving. Black Water Diving is also offered here.
