Shamba Kilole Eco Lodge

On Mafia Island's east coast you will find Shamba Kilole Eco Lodge with its six cozy rooms. The small lodge is set in a beautifully lush garden of five hectares with spectacular views of Kilole Bay and the islands of Chole, Juani and Jibondo. Right in front of Shamba Kilole you have the beach which is completely surrounded by mangrove trees, where lots of different birds thrive. If you want to holiday in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, you will love Shamba Kilole Eco Lodge.

This is a small lodge with very personal service. The owners are divers themselves and very enthusiastic and will take very good care of you. Shamba Kilole is a place you choose to stay if you want peace and quiet and enjoy the various activities that the lodge arranges, such as diving, snorkelling and boat trips. The lodge has its own pool and next to the pool is the restaurant. Italian dishes with African elements are served here. Over the years, the food here has gained a reputation for being delicious.

At the lodge, as I said, there are a total of six rooms, three of which are suites and three are chalets. Each room is individually decorated in an individual African style and atmosphere. Common to all rooms is that they have a comfortable sofa, which also works well as a third bed, as well as their own shower, toilet and mosquito net.

Suites/Chalets

There are three suites and three chalets available at the lodge and each room is individually decorated. They all have a double bed or two single beds with mosquito nets, a sofa, private bathroom and patio. No air conditioning, but a fan.

Dive with Shamba Kilole

Shamba Kilole is a PADI dive center offering daily boat excursions as well as a full program of PADI diving courses. For those who want to learn to dive, Mafia Island is a good choice of place. At the lodge there is a cool classroom where you can study in peace and quiet, they also have a pool in three different depths where you will start your training in water. When it's time to head out to sea, the dive sites around Chole Bay offer a perfect and calm environment.

For those of you who are already divers, the guides at Shamba Kilole will take you on great dives. The staff is professional, incredibly enthusiastic and has a very good knowledge of the dive sites in the Mafia Island marine park. The diving areas around Mafia became a marine park in 1996 and care is taken to take care of all the corals and fish in the area. The diving is mainly in the form of reef diving and wall diving, and you have the opportunity to see everything from small reef fish and rays to reef sharks, dolphins, octopus, etc. If you're lucky, you may even get a visit from the occasional whale shark. Nitrox is not available on the island and minor marine park fees apply.
