We know that many people love to snorkel and experience the world below the surface without having to put on diving equipment. A big advantage of snorkeling is that you don't need to have a diving certificate and anyone can snorkel with a little training.
You can snorkel anywhere there is water, but there can be very different experiences waiting for you.
You can see a lot when you snorkel. For example, many different beautiful fish, rays, starfish and turtles, sometimes small sharks and much more. Corals are there to experience but in shallower water they are often more worn and affected by harsh weather, waves, tides and people. There can still be plenty of fish on these reefs and a lot to see. Some places may have mostly sand in shallow water and it can be harder to find marine animals to look at.
What is good for diving may not always be as good for snorkeling so how each person values what is good snorkeling is very individual. It is also about knowledge. If you know more about marine life, you will appreciate less species-rich places more because you know what to expect.
Some places can have quite rough water and this may not be ideal for snorkeling unless you are a good swimmer or have good fitness and strength to contend with.
The finest and most well-preserved and truly living coral reefs are usually found in places that are a little more remote. There are also better chances of seeing many different other marine species. Some of the most popular and talked about places can be found in charter destinations, such as Egypt, the Maldives, Curaçao in the Caribbean, Mexico in the Caribbean or Thailand. It is clear that the most common places get the most attention, but we know that there are more and finer corals in many other places.
One advantage of snorkeling is that you can do it anywhere and you'll probably see more than those who dive. You simply have more time and can take it easier.
Places like Indonesia with Bali and Sulawesi and many more places like the Philippines, Belize, Mexico in the Pacific, Fiji, Dominican Republic, Jordan, Bonaire also offer exciting snorkeling and free diving. Depending on what experiences you are looking for, we can of course help.
Whether it's large animals like whales, manta rays or whale sharks, we know where the best opportunities are to experience these giants.
the reefs just by snorkeling. For those of you who want to experience the most beautiful and healthy coral reefs in the world, we know where they are. Even if you want to experience wrecks, that is possible. If you want maximum visibility, there are such places, but the marine life can be more sparse because poorer visibility often means more nutrients in the water and therefore more marine life.
One place in a country or destination can be absolutely fantastic while other places are not good at all so it's about getting it right. We have that knowledge and will help you properly.
What can be a bit trickier is finding destinations that have it all. Each place is unique and often known for one or at best two things, such as whale sharks but no coral, or beautiful coral but rarely big fish, etc. Places with beautiful white beaches often have no coral to look at and therefore not as much to see when snorkeling.
No matter what your dreams and desires are, we will help you get to some of the world's best snorkeling spots. We sometimes also have group trips dedicated to snorkeling and more specifically freediving, so keep an eye out for our group trips.
For those of you who want to go away alone or with family and friends and do not dive but focus on snorkeling, contact us and we will help you. Once you are there, there is also usually the opportunity to try diving and maybe you will even take a diving course abroad.
