Land based diving Aqaba Jordan

Aqaba is a small port city located at the northernmost tip of the Gulf of Aqaba. It is a perfect place for a relaxing vacation and diving trip. Despite its small size, the city has a lot to offer in the form of lively markets, shops, cozy cafes and restaurants. But there are also archaeological sights, water sports and lovely beaches here. Land based diving Aqaba Jordan is really good and there is a lot to experience. For those who want to travel with the family and do something else too or where no one dives, it is perfect.

Aqaba's marine park is located about 10 km south of central Aqaba city and the park stretches all the way down south to the border with Saudi Arabia. It is a coastal stretch of a total of 26 km. The sea is normally very calm and the water temperature goes up to a pleasant 27-29°C degrees during the summer and in the winter creeps down towards or just below 20°C degrees. There is usually good visibility here below the surface. Sometimes up to +30 meters but 20-25 is normal. The calm waters here in the bay make Aqaba an excellent diving spot for those who want to learn to dive and get a diving certificate or for those of you who photograph below the surface. It is also perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Everyone can dive here or snorkel

As all dive sites are close to land, land-based diving is the best option. There are no reefs further out to sea in Jordan which makes diving boats and liveaboard quite redundant. Nevertheless, there are some boats that offer diving here. The corals and marine life in the Gulf of Aqaba are impressive. IN The red sea over 1000 species of coral have been identified and new ones are still being added to that list. Of these, around a hundred species are unique to the Red Sea and are found nowhere else in the world.

Whether you are a beginner or more advanced, you have plenty to experience here in Jordan and the Red Sea. The marine life is surprisingly rich and there are now lots of wrecks, tanks, airplanes and other things to see. Even for those who only swim or snorkel, this is a really nice destination. The diving is fully in class with land-based diving in the north Egypt for those looking for alternatives.

Something to keep in mind when traveling to Jordan to dive is that there are quite large differences in altitude on land - something that you should factor into your travel planning. After diving, you should, for example, wait 6 hours before you go on an excursion to, for example, Petra precisely because of the considerable height differences. In addition to diving, there is a lot of good food to experience here and a visit to Wadi Rum and Petra is almost a must. For those who want a little extra, it is possible to combine with the Dead Sea and Amman as well. Land-based diving in Aqaba, Jordan is a great fun adventure, a great vacation and an excellent destination for families and non-divers.
