About Trogir

Trogir is a delightful harbor town, built on an island between the mainland and the island of Ciovo further out and connected by bridges, it is 27 km west of Split. The old town center of Trogir is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and can offer a large selection of cozy restaurants, shops and even a small market where you can find most things.

You can easily kill a couple of hours just enjoying the old buildings and monasteries that are tucked along narrow cobbled streets. Tourists and boaters throng along the harbor promenade. Folk life and music prevail almost around the clock.

In the morning, the hustle and bustle of the pubs is replaced by the hustle and bustle of the market. It is important to be out in good time if you take the car to the market, the queues quickly become long and slow. Many choose to do their shopping early in the morning to avoid queues but also to avoid the worst of the heat. The prices are slightly lower than at home in Sweden for vegetables and fruit. Directly across the street from the main market in Trogir is the fish market offering the catch of the night.

About the diving around Trogir

  • Over 30 different dive sites in the immediate area
  • Here is the very rare red gorgonian
  • Excellent visibility
  • Perfect for the family

There are over 30 dive sites located between 15 - 80 minutes from the dive center by boat. The coastline is also most beautiful in central Dalmatia, especially the area around the island of Solta and the southern side of the island of Ciovo.

The area around the island of Solta was long protected by the military, which meant that it was previously forbidden to dive here. This means that the area has been untouched for a long time. There are mainly many dives on walls with large overhangs of sponges, corals, gorgonia (both yellow and the very rare red gorgonia). You can also enjoy caves, wrecks and a rich underwater flora and fauna in the very clear waters of the Adriatic Sea.

When it comes to fish life, you can see everything the Mediterranean has to offer: seahorses, catfish, sea bass, lobsters, octopuses and other varieties of molluscs, conger eels, stonefish and many varieties of nudibranchs.
