Turks and Caicos is not so well known to many, but here you will find perhaps the world's most beautiful beaches. On top of that, diving is also quite ok, with often large fish and beautiful reefs. Immediately southeast of Bahamas and north of the Dominican Republic you are offered a truly wonderful destination that offers pleasant and good diving. About 40 islands spread out and surrounded by azure water. The main island Provinciales or Provo is known for luxury resorts and has plenty of luxury restaurants and shops.

The reefs around Turks & Caicos are a mix of wall dives and coral gardens. Reef and nurse sharks often patrol here, sometimes also hammerhead sharks and turtles. The reefs are rich in life, corals, sponges, plenty of fish, frogfish, seahorses, blennies, tarpons and many different invertebrates are also present.

Encounters with humpback whales

The North Atlantic humpback whale population is accumulating Silver Bank from January to April to mate and give birth to their calves. A perfect place to prepare the calf for a life in the sea before they leave the safe area of ​​Silver Bank. This reserve is better known as the “Sanctuary for the Marine Mammals of the Dominican Republic”. It is a unique place where we humans are allowed to snorkel with the whales.

When looking for whales, you will be out at sea for several hours, in blazing sunshine. It is of the utmost importance that you use sunscreen, a cap or similar and sunglasses. For those of you who are interested in photography, take a "topside" camera with you on the boat. When photographing from a boat deck, it is good if the camera has protection against water, as it can splash some from the waves. When you snorkel, we recommend full-foot fins and a 3 mm wetsuit, preferably with a hood as sun protection for the neck and head.

No diving certificate is required for this trip. However, you will spend a large number of hours in the water, so you should have good snorkeling skills and be able to handle waves and small currents. For those who want to see whales and live on one live board This is a great diving trip.
