Fuvahmulah Maldives Tiger Shark ZeroDegree Residence

Welcome to Fuvahmulah Maldives Tiger Shark Zerodegree - Fuvahmulah which means "Island of Areca Nut Palms".

This island is located approximately 500 km south of the country's capital Malé. You get here by plane and the island has an underwater reef that stretches for about 3 km. The island is the third largest in Maldiverna. In the past, Fuvahmulah was a small coral atoll whose southern end was open and where the interior of the island was a saltwater lagoon that then formed a natural harbor.

The channel connecting the lagoon to the sea was later closed off with coral blocks. Therefore, the inside of the island is slightly lower than the edges on the outside. Over time, the salinity of the inner lagoon dropped and all that remains today are two small lakes as natural wetlands.

Being an atoll with only one island and the third largest island in the Maldives, Fuvahmulah has a diverse range of habitats. They range from tropical forests and wetlands to freshwater lakes, well-vegetated marshlands, white sand beaches in various variations and with different rock textures. Also gravel beaches and fertile humus lands, which are larger in surface area than any other island in the Maldives.

Freshwater lakes, mangoes and oranges

These two freshwater lakes and the marshland on the island are today a habitat for various plant and animal species found nowhere else in the Maldives.

For example, there are lots of mango trees on the island and every year hundreds of thousands of mangoes are produced. Fuvahmulah also produces pineapples and oranges. Something that is not found anywhere else in the country.

Zero Degree Residence is just a 3-minute walk from the sea and it's only a 10-minute walk to the white beach. The accommodation is a perfect place to relax and rest after a day full of diving adventures. At the accommodation you are welcomed by tropical bushes, palm trees and exotic flowers. It's easy to feel at home when you come here.

  • PADI 5* center
  • Daily diving trips by boat
  • Shark specialty and Manta specialty
  • Tiger Zoo

Fuvahmulah is a unique place that is best known for deep sea diving with big fish and especially for tiger shark diving. Here come divers who like warm water, pleasant conditions and the opportunity to experience sharks, sharks, sharks.

The diving in Fuvahmulah is really for those who like sharks and that is what makes Fuvahmulah so popular. The island of Fuvahmulah has also been nicknamed "Shark Island". There is a diving site here where divers are guaranteed to meet tiger sharks face to face in the shallow water. Tiger shark diving is conducted daily by local dive centers. No seasons or special conditions are required. You can book only Tiger Zoo dives or include these dives in an all inclusive package.

Although the tiger sharks are Fuvahmulah's signature, throughout the year there are ample opportunities for other encounters. For example, you usually see thresher sharks, whale sharks, hammerhead sharks, silvertip sharks, gray reef sharks, mantas and mola-mola. The local reef is also full of marine life. Here you will experience lots of fish, many different corals and beautiful underwater landscapes that make diving exciting.

ATTENTION! - The diving at this part of the Maldives here can be quite deep and have strong currents. Divers should be experienced (we recommend at least 100 dives) and you should feel safe in these conditions. You should also feel comfortable diving near and with large sharks.
